Presidential Debate 2016

The first Presidential debate was very intense. This is because of Donald Trump's lack of discipline and Hillary's honest comments about Mr. Trump's racist past. Hillary said that Donald Trump thinks that Global Warming is a "hoax" and that the Chinese were responsible. Also, Trump doesn't respect women. Donald kept interrupting Hillary since he knew those things were true. Donald Trump only talked about himself the entire time. That is why I would vote for Hillary Clinton for President.
-Aniya

I would vote for Hillary Clinton because she sounds smarter and wants Spanish people to live in America unlike Trump. I like Hillary Clinton because she is nice to people and she will make a great President. Another reason why I like her is because she's not racist like Donald Trump. These are the reasons I would vote for Hillary over Trump.
-Devon Guthrie

I would vote for Hillary Clinton. I say this because Hillary Clinton is a great candidate for president. Donald Trump is a bad person and he is racist. He wants to put a wall between Mexico and America. He believes anybody with color is a bad person. He also believes Muslim people will become terrorists and are bad people.
-Osagie E.

The debate was intense, but Hillary Clinton had more power than Donald Trump. Donald Trump wasn't prepared. He kept talking about his money. Also, he kept interrupting Hillary Clinton and the host. The reason I would vote for Hillary Clinton is because she is able to tell others what she thinks.
-Angela

If could vote, I would vote for Hillary Clinton. This is because she wants to make the world a better place. I don't want to vote for Donald Trump because he only cares about first class people and leaves poor people to fend for themselves. Hillary will help everyone and keep the country safe.
-Mikayla Robinson

I think the first presidential debate was unfair because Trump kept cutting off Clinton when she was speaking. That shows that he was rude and disrespectful. I want to vote for Hillary because Trump acts inappropriately. He said that he wants to ban all Muslims from America. This shows that he is very racist.
-Victorya Fentress

On September 26th, 2016 the most important event on T.V. was the Presidential debate. Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump. Trump was disorganized and not prepared. Hillary had a plan and is ready for Presidency. Trump was sued for racism because he would not let African Americans in his hotel. Why would you vote for a racist, arrogant man. Also, Donald Trump supports "Stop and Frisk". This is when people are randomly searched by police for drugs or weapons. Luckily, Hillary did better in the debate. Would you really want Donald Trump in charge of the nuclear launch codes. I would vote for Hillary Clinton.

Market Day Preliminary Auditions

One of the biggest days of the summer at CYCSI is approaching. Market Day 2016 will surely be a spectacular one with tons of great performances. Every year prior to the actual event auditions are held to narrow down the amount of performances in the show. A panel of students and staff were selected to judge each audition and provide feedback or constructive criticism so they could work on it later. No one was eliminated during auditions this year.  As a result all staff and students were able to perform on Markey Day.

The judges for Market Day 2016 include staff members Destyn White, Jasmine Warren, and students Faith Grinion, Adanna Iwu and Olanna Iwu.

Game of Life Project by Shaneil Webley-Roberts

Media Club lesson today: "The Game of Life".  The objective of the "Game of Life" lesson was to allow the students to organize their plans for their future on a poster that has a design similar to the actual board game, "The Game of Life." On their posters they had to indicate the college they want to attend, their career choice, and any other life goals they had in mind (e.g. go on vacation to Hawaii, buy a car, family goals etc.). The students were able to express their creativity and also received a basic understanding of what careers they want to pursue in the future and how to achieve their career goals. Here are a few pictures of the students working on their projects:

After about a week of hard work on their projects, the students were able to complete their projects. The four projects below are the best projects that showed the most creativity and effort:

 Created by Adanna Iwu

 Created by Kal-el Douglas

Created by Faith Grinion

Game Day 2016 by Darrien Hunt and Faith Grinion, Art Work by Terryl Jackson and Allie Alexander

Today was the student favorite "Game Day," where each child enjoyed playing their favorite games. Every student was allowed to bring in their own video games, board games, or cards to play with their friends. We provided a PS4, Wii, and Xbox One for the children to play upon completing a Video Game review.

Students had fun playing games such as NBA 2K16, Wii Sports, Super Mario Bros, cards, dominoes, and other board games.

Here of some examples of some brief video game reviews done by students:

Just Dance 3 by Olivia Speller
Just Dance 3 was announced shortly after its prequel, Just Dance 2, was released. Ubisoft released this dancing craze on October 7th, 2011 in North America and October 11th in Europe and Australia.
The most challenging part of this game are the dances, but it’s enjoyable to play.

Fantasy Life by Faith Grinion
You, a normal citizen of Castele, Reveria, are faced with a dilemma that could change the world as we know it; the sky is breaking apart, causing 2 separate worlds to collide. It’s up to you, your friend Butterfly, a few allies, and your Life decisions to save Reveria. You can choose from 12 different Life classes, learning the ways of the sword, wand, pickaxe, frying pan, etc.
The most challenging part would have to be beating the final quest in all the Life classes.

Madden 16 by Tyler Smikle
You win the game! Get more points than the other team.
The hardest part of this game is to get more points than the other team.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii by John Fentress
This game is fun because it is about saving Princess Peach from Bowser. Everyone loves Mario. He has multiple items, including the ice flower, fire flower, star, red mushroom, mini mushroom, flying mushroom, 1-Up, and penguin.
The hardest part would be defeating Bowser when he is giant. He can spit larger fireballs and the lava under you is rising up.

NBA 2K17 by Gavin Johnston
NBA 2K17 is a fun game involving new and old basketball stars.  It allows people to battle head to head.
The most challenging part of the game is story mode.
