Poetry Month 2016

It's National Poetry Month once again, and as always we fully embrace this by encouraging our students to read and write more. This year, select students were given the opportunity to travel to York College and read their own outstanding poems to an audience. They also got a chance to hear other poems and meet great people. This was surely an experience they wont forget.

Science Fair 2016

Around this time of year, PS 176 loves to host an annual Science Fair for the students. Students are assigned to do a scientific project on anything that may interest them with the help of their parents. They must use the Scientific Method as a guideline in order to create a successful project. Students often learn a lot through their research and experimentation. We also get to see which students are the most creative and most deserving of a prize.

UPS Trip 2016

Our talented students we're invited to UPS headquarters in mid town Manhattan to participate in their cultural celebration. This was a huge opportunity for them as they got a chance to show that they are being developed into fine young adults. Their performances showed that black students can come together as a unity to accomplish great things. Each student displayed their skills through a variety of ways including a heartfelt poem called "Blackness" and dancing. UPS is very generous and they provide us with grants to help make what we do for the children possible. Putting on performances for them only reassured that their money is definitely not going to waste.
